Sirius - the Spiritual Sun
by Brenton Phillis
"Sirius is a vast expression of divinity, the great star
of initiation, the parent of our solar system, and the point in
cosmic consciousness from which issues the true symbol of the
cross."
- Lord Djwhal Khul, through A.A. Bailey
Before the publication of Lord Djhwal Khul's 20 or so books written
through Alice Bailey, Sirius had been known as a star of great potency:
the central sun and guiding force of many ancient religions, and
a central energy in the ancient wisdom underlying these religions
and practices.
Sirius is the brightest star in our night sky, as well as the brightest
star in Earth's spiritual cosmos; as HPBlavatsky said, Sirius "exerts
a mystic and direct influence over the entire living heaven, and
is to be found linked with every great religion of antiquity."
Sirius is a massive blue-white star, some 40 times more luminous
than our sun - and a good deal larger and hotter. It's name derives
probably from the Greek, "seirios" meaning "sparkling"
or "scorching." Sometimes the Greeks referred to it simply
as "astron, " from which is derived the word "astronomy."
This gives a hint as to the importance of this giant sun.
Each year Sirius rises with the sun for about 40 days in July and
August, the hot summer months in the northern hemisphere. One of
the Egyptians' calendars was based on this very precise heliacal
rising of Sirius with the sun: it gave a year of 365 and a quarter
days exactly - and allowed them to correct the less reliable lunar
and solar calendars.
This rising of Sirius with the sun also brought the flooding of
the Nile nourishing the delta, its agriculture and its people. The
Egyptians called Sirius "the provider," no doubt in part
because of this life-support, but also through their understanding
of the cosmic, spiritual role of Sirius.
A central key to this understanding is that our Solar system revolves
around Sirius as a central sun in a much larger system - a much
greater consciousness, a much greater life than we are able to perceive.
In this larger life, our Solar Logos, our solar system, is but one
centre - a minor chakra of particular energy and purpose in relation
to a much, much greater life.
The very advanced sacred science of Egypt, and its expression in
all aspects of Egyptian life had been transported from Atlantis,
a civilisation which had evolved over hundreds of thousands of years
under the guidance of the spiritual Hierarchy living in physical
incarnation. Master R was one such living master who is still with
us, fulfilling his role in manifesting the Divine Plan.
Sirius is a centre in that great life Lord Djwhal Khul refers to
as the One About Whom Naught May Be Said - the Cosmic Logos who
manifests and animates a body compased of seven solar systems or
Solar Logoi. This is analogous to the human body with its seven
major etheric chakras.
Lord Djwhal Khul states that "the entire work of the Great
White Lodge is contolled from Sirius." This implies, by definition,
that the spiritual evolution of humanity and Earth is controlled
from Sirius. It is Siriun energy, Djwhal Khul indicates, which flows
into the consciousness of Hierarchy, streams through its seven basic
divisions, and stimulates the members of the Hierarchy to progress
toward their higher initiations.
Since the higher initiations effect far more than just the initiate
immediately concerned, the effect of this Siriun stimulation reaches
not only the Hierarchy, but flows through to its disciples and aspirants
of lesser degrees. As a result, Siriun stimulation is a root subjective
cause of initiatory progress in disciples of all degrees.
The Great White Lodge on Sirius, he reveals, "
is the
spiritual prototype of the great White Lodge on Earth
,"
functioning something like the parent source and grand archetype
of the Great White Lodge or Hierarchy on Earth. However, Sirius
is so far in advance of our planetary consciousness, that a Master
of the Wisdom on Earth [a fifth intititate] is but a first initiate
on Sirius.
Djwhal Khul mentions many links of Sirius with other constellations
and star systems, such as the Great Bear and the Pleiades. With
these two systems, Sirius forms what he calls "the prototypical
triangle." From this triangle flow all the energies circulating
and contolling our solar system - i.e, energizing our Solar Logos.
Through this triangle, cosmic energy from the cosmic physical,
cosmic astral and cosmic mental planes radiate to our sun to be
distributed to all parts of the solar system. Consequently, this
triangle is the conduit into our solar system of all the Seven Rays
which constitute the whole of Divine Life. These Rays emanate from
the seven solar systems forming the expressed activity of the One
About Whom Naught May Be Said.
Examined individually, the members of the prototypical triangle
have more specific functions. Through the Great Bear flows the first
ray, the will and purpose; through Sirius flows the second ray,
the love wisdom and attractive power of deity; through the Pleiades
flows the third ray, the active intelligence of God, which includes
in its vibration the four rays of attribute, rays 4 to 7.
Alice Bailey, in Consciousness of the Atom, writes,
"In the Eastern books they say that in the Sun Sirius
lies the source of wisdom and that the influence or the energy
of love emenates from there."
To identify Sirius as the source of love-wisdom, is to claim it
as a centre of transcendent power of universal inclusion and profound
understanding about the nature of being on all levels and, in this
second ray solar system, all that we understand by the term GOD.
